Obama's speech about health reform

President Obama may have good intentions about health care reform, but his optimisim is clouded by his ignorance on the reality of how the citizens of America will be affected. First, until tort reform is addressed, cost of health care will continue to rise. Second, the ability for a physician and a patient to make decisions based on what's best for that particular patient will be eroded. Third, government oversight will get worse, dictating to doctors what is best for their patients in terms of cost, not necessarily the best treatment plan ("Take the blue pill instead of the red pill.") Obama says "if you currently like your health insurance, you may keep it." I invision the public sector eventually being squeezed out of the private sector. Doctors are going to be inundated with patients armed with their new public insurance plan, creating greater access to care concerns. Shortage of doctors is happening now, and is projected to worsen within the next 10 years. To date, the CMS is lagging behind about a year in their payments to hospitals and physicians, will we see reform in reimbursement from Medicare and Medicaid? The result? Overworked, underpaid and exhausted physicians that will be closing their doors out of frustration of dealing with a growing bureacratic, dictatorial system. Please tell our Canadian neigbors that they no longer can look to us for health care.
